Tim Broskie

Tim Broskie, a native of Columbus, Ohio, has dedicated over three decades to shaping young lives through education and athletics. A 1983 graduate of Mifflin High School, he earned varsity letters in football, baseball, wrestling, and swimming. He continued his academic and athletic pursuits at Rio Grande University, where he earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Physical Education (K–12), English (7–12), and Special Education (K–12).

Coach Broskie began his teaching and coaching career in 1989 as a Special Education teacher at Southmoor Middle School, serving until 2004. Concurrently, he was the Varsity Assistant Baseball Coach at Centennial High School. In 1994, he assumed the role of Head Baseball Coach at Whetstone High School, a position he continues to hold.

From 2005 to 2025, he taught students with multiple disabilities at Whetstone, retiring after 36 years of service in Columbus City Schools. He now serves as a Part Time Special Education teacher, continuing his commitment to student success.

Over the course of his career, Coach Broskie has coached high school baseball programs for 37 years, including 32 years as Head Coach at Whetstone. His teams have achieved 574 wins and 252 losses overall, with a league record of 375–45. Under his leadership, Whetstone has secured 18 Columbus City League titles and four runner-up finishes. He is the winningest coach in Columbus City League history and the fifth Columbus City Schools Head Coach inducted into the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Coach Broskie’s influence extends beyond the diamond. He has coached high school football for 25 years and wrestling for 10 years and led elite travel baseball teams from 1987 to 2023.

His mentorship has helped numerous athletes advance to collegiate programs, professional baseball, and coaching careers at both the high school and college levels.His accolades include induction into the Central District Hall of Fame in 2016 and six Columbus City League Coach of the Year honors. He has remained deeply committed to Whetstone and the City League, embracing the unique challenges and opportunities they present. Through consistent fundraising efforts, he has helped upgrade facilities, purchase equipment, and support memorable spring break trips for his teams. These trips—ranging from Cincinnati and Dayton to Cocoa Beach, Myrtle Beach, Nashville, Louisville, and Cleveland—have blended athletic competition with educational and cultural experiences. Coach Broskie ensures that each journey includes meaningful sightseeing, leaving lasting impressions on his players.
