Bob Brenning - 2003
Urbana High School
Bob Brenning began teaching at Watkins Memorial High School in 1969. While at Watkins, he served as assistant football, basketball, and baseball coach. In 1971, Bob moved to Urbana and become the Head Baseball coach. He held that position until 1999 and compiled a record of 427 and 248. His team won ten league championships, twelve sectional championships, seven district championships, and three regional championships. Urbana was State Runner-Up in 1983 and State Champions in 1982 and 1990. In 1991, Bob was chosen to coach in the Mizuno All-Ohio Series. In 1992, he was elected into the Miami Valley Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame. Bob also coached summer Acme baseball for many years and had three State Runner-Up teams and two State Championship teams in the Acme Association.
Bob also coached football for twenty-eight years, thirteen of those as the head coach of Urbana. During that time, the Hillclimbers were 93 and 41, winning four league titles and making the playoffs on four occasions.
Bob graduated from New Albany High School in 1965 attended Capital University where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1969. He then went on to earn his Master's Degree in Education from the Ohio State University. He has been married to his wife Pam for twenty-seven years. She also is a teacher and has been a volleyball and softball coach on both the high school and college levels. They are the proud parents of two children. A son, Ty (24) who is presently teaching and coaching at Franklin Heights High School and an daughter, Tia (21), who is attending Tennessee Tech University, where she plays softball.
