Don was born and raised in northern New Jersey. He attended Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio and graduated in 1971. During both high school and college he played football and baseball. He was fortunate to play for former NBA coach Hubie Brown in high school and former Rocket coach, Jack Murphy, while in college.
Don is in his twenty-ninth year of teaching at St. Francis High School. He currently teaches Advanced Placement Psychology, Economics, and Geography. He is also active in several professional teaching organizations and is involved in the grading of the college level Advanced Placement Psychology Exam.
The 1999-2000 season will begin Don's twenty-seventh as a head baseball coach. His overall won-lost record is 528-186. This record includes numerous Sectional, District, and City Championships. The 1998-99 team experienced outstanding success as it went 27-5 while advancing to the state Final Four. Currently, eight graduates from his program are playing college baseball.
Don has been married to his wife, Ingrid, for twenty-six years. They have a daughter Kristine, who is currently a senior at Xavier University.
